The mantle and core
ImageThe crust is a thin layer when compared with the rest of the planet. This consists of more or less rigid plates which rest or float on a viscous material at high temperature sometimes rises to the surface through volcanoes that continuously flows into the ocean ridges to form new crust.

At about 3000 km in depth is the core of the Earth, an area dominated by metals and that, far from being indifferent, influences life on Earth because he is considered responsible for most electric and magnetic phenomena that characterize our planet.

The layers of the Earth
ImageIf we make a cut that passes through the Earth through the center found that under the crust, there are several layers whose structure and composition varies widely. The Earth is one of the solid planets, or at least, solid crust, as not all layers are.

Above we have an atmosphere, a layer of gases we call air, formed in turn by a series of layers, which functions as a protective shield of the planet, keeping the temperature and allows life. In the cracks and low areas of the cortex, water, lots of liquid water and, at the poles, ice. Below the crust, a series of layers in a thick paste, very hot, and with increasing density until reaching the core of the Earth, again, solid, metallic, dense, ...

The Earth, a blue planet
ImageAstronauts always describe Earth as "Planet Blue" because of his color, and photos captured from space prove it. Those responsible for these colors are the oceans and atmospheric gases,  the two components "external" to the Earth's crust.

It is in these three layers - crust, hydrosphere, atmosphere - where conditions are suitable to develop and maintain life. Both the coverage of water and the air are unique in the Solar System.

Precession and nutation
The equinoxes are not fixed because the plane of Ecuador tour the plane of the ecliptic, completing a rotation every 25,868 years. The movement of the equinoxes along the ecliptic is called precession of the equinoxes. To establish the actual position of the stars at a given time must apply a correction to precession celestial charts.

For its part, the nutation is a slight swing experienced by the Earth by the gravitational pull of the Moon

Earth Movements
ImageThe Earth is in continuous motion. It moves, with the other planets and solar system bodies, rotating around the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way. However, this movement has little effect on our daily lives.

More importantly for us, is the movement to be made describing its orbit around the Sun, as it determines the year and the change of seasons. And further, the Earth's rotation around its axis, causing day and night, that determines our schedule and biorhythms and ultimately inescapable part of our lives.
