The LED screens to the onslaught of portable PC
Computing

The technology LED (Light-emitting diode), which allows you to make finer screens, able to return sharper images and more colorful while consuming less energy, should eventually equip all laptops, say analysts.

The research firm DisplaySearch market believes that the LED technology could be present in 50% of laptops in 2010, against 12% today. And by 2015, all laptops should be equipped with LED tiles, which will represent a turnover of 6 billion.

"The price is currently a problem, but I have no doubt that the penetration rate will be higher," said Alex Huang, vice-president of MSI.
In the future, large screens for computers and televisions to flat LCD screen could also benefit from the LED technology. According to DisplaySearch, the latter team today, 9% of LCD TVs and 12% of monitors for computers.

The theology, science which studies the mechanical behavior of materials (deformation) as a result of coercion, was born to meet the needs of modern technology. When applying an independent time, they study the behavior of the material at a given moment. The constraints are of different natures: tension, compression, twisting, bending and shearing. The materials can then have an elastic behavior (the material instantly resumed its original shape when the force is no longer applied behavior reversible), plastics (residual permanent deformation when coercion is not exercised), viscoelastic (the body takes part its original form with a delay after unloading).

Materials, science and technology
Computing
Materials, science and technology, science, which aims to study macroscopic properties of materials - solid developed by man - using the theoretical principles of physics, chemistry and mechanics of solids.

Research in this area are mainly oriented industrial applications, such as new uses of plastics, ceramics and other non-metallic products in areas formerly reserved for metals. There are two classes of materials: the materials crystalline and amorphous materials. Among the first type of materials are metals, the majority of ceramics and minerals, and some polymers. In a crystalline solid, atoms are arranged regularly in space, thus constituting a three-dimensional network characterized by great cohesion (see crystal; crystallography).

The materials include amorphous polymers most high molecular weight, glasses, some inorganic compounds and some chemical elements. An amorphous material is a disorder characterized by molecular range. It is more difficult to study the structure of these materials, because they are inaccessible to X-ray It then uses electron microscopy.

You can also sort the materials according to the nature of their interactions or connections interatomiques: ionic bonds, covalent, metallic molecular bonds or Van der Waals, hydrogen bonds (see chemical bond).

Another approach is to sort the materials according to their main uses: glass, ceramics and metals for mechanical applications; polymers (plastics), composite materials, semiconductors and materials for the optoelectronics, and materials for electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis.

Knowledge of properties - optical, electrical, chemical, mechanical - of various materials allows engineers to choose the material best suited for a specific use. Today, it interprets the macroscopic properties in terms of structure and chemical bonds. To learn more about the properties of various materials, See also metals, polymers, composite materials, glass (industry); new ceramics.

The Association of Science and Technology
Computing

We fully share the idea that "France needs a strong research." This ambition calls for a greater effort both government and businesses, and in all fields: life sciences with social sciences. Researchers must have the material and social conditions fostering their creative activity.

What is played around the science and technology is largely the fate of individuals and the planet, they are societal choices. With scientists, experts and officials and economic policies, it is essential that citizens are stakeholders in these choices. Add science and technology in the democratic debate is necessary to meet the challenges of all kinds that arise in humanity.

The science, technology and innovation for sustainable development
Computing

The Human Resources Section and intellectual property, Division of Science, Innovation and Electronic Information, Statistics Canada, where he is also the editor of the Bulletin of the analysis Innovation. Through his current role, he must see the surveys on the commercialization of intellectual property (one on universities, and the other on federal departments and agencies) and develop new statistics on human resources in science and technology, marketing, indicators infraprovinciaux S-T and business strategies of companies working in technology. Previously, he held a Statistics Canada served as chief of environmental information and accounts Space national accounts and the environment.

It will maybe extend the scope of the international framework for the STI if you want to get to gauge more effectively how certain activities contribute to sustainable development. The particular situation of developing countries and remote regions (including Northern Development) will also be taken into account. The two aspects - developing regions and sustainable development - are closely linked because most of the issues of economic development based on principles of sustainable development. In both cases, it is necessary to understand the ins and outs of R & D, technology or product.

The intention of an actor from the industrial sector may be difficult to define. When it comes to sustainable development, the Fractal Manual recommends classifying R & D according to the socio-economic objectives pursued, but one of these objectives is entitled "pollution and environmental protection." In Canada, this classification applies only to the DR federal government. No socio-economic objective has been set for developing regions.

The article will highlight the experience of Canada regarding the extent of R & D in developing countries and that R & D activities in support of sustainable development. Will also exposed the case of sector development of bio-and the results of a project to order all data relating to R & D on sustainable development arising from a survey on industrial R & D in Canada.

The article will propose indicators to be achieved by existing data linkages between, for example, surveys on technology or the industry, with surveys on R & D and innovation. In this context, one could use the full investigation into the environmental industry out by Statistics Canada. In addition, article will propose a series of indicators that will require targeted investigations. Executives working on appropriate S-T, including science and classifications of occupations, will be reviewed to verify to what extent they take account of "sustainable development".

A material freezing technology
Computing
The Belgian research centre IMEC and the Centre for Inter-Microelectronics, has created an innovative material lithographic paving the way for the development of CMOS finesse burning 22 nm (nanometers). The most promising to get this fine engraving is the "double-patterning" which employs a double ground on two different materials. The material produced by JSR through cooling properties, this method improves manufacturing preventing the first material photorésistant to mix with the solvent of the second.
