In a story that overshadowed the appearance of the Apple iPhone, Cisco sued the company that apple as it ensures that some products are already carrying the iPhone name through its Linksys subsidiary, has spread that Apple and Cisco have already been in talks for which Apple could use its brand, but did not reach an agreement, Apple claims that the Cisco iPhone is a VoIP phone, while Apple's iPhone is a mobile phone, so would not violate the mark.

The average budget for these purchases is, however, increased from 226 euros (Christmas 2007) to 216 euros (Christmas 2008). CD / DVD are in the lead gifts that have been most popular with Internet users (27%), followed by books (21%). Then come games / toys (16.8%), game consoles / entertainment (16.3%), clothing (15%) and products (13%).

Europe launches its "Google Earth" for planners

ImageIn 2009, 185 cities of 27 EU member states, including Paris, Barcelona and London, will benefit from an urban atlas compiled from thousands of satellite photos. Developed by the European Commission and EU states, this atlas, Google Earth kind of city planners, propose a detailed digital map on the use and land use in Europe. 
"The use of European space technology will provide new opportunities for mutual learning in terms of land use and help the cities to make decisions based on appropriate information on investment", said Günter Verheugen, VP of the Commission responsible for enterprise and industry, and Danuta Hübner, Commissioner for regional policy, in a press release dated 16 January 2009.
