Dissatisfaction with business intelligence is growing
The dissatisfaction with BI systems is rising, too much complexity users. But transparency and risk management are forcing companies to increase BI applications. The most important trends, such as BI systems continue to appear.

Klaus-Dieter Schulze, Steria Mummert Consulting.

Remains for CIOs in Germany Business Intelligence (BI), one of the top IT trends for the next three years. More than every second German company will also be enhanced in future to take care of his fitness in terms of targeted information delivery. But despite all the investments of the past also increases the discontent. Often meet the expectations set by the solutions are not being fully satisfied. This is largely because business intelligence, although extremely powerful, has also become highly complex. In addition, BI is for 80 percent of users simply too difficult in terms of access. The result: The discontent is rising, and despite huge investments, large parts and ancillary data processing can still be held individually and outside of the BI solutions.
Drivers of complexity as a barrier to development

The business intelligence market has grown steadily in recent years with tremendous views of experts or the performance of available software tools developed. Nevertheless, many problems in the perception of users and managers remain the same - for example, the data quality or responsiveness to new requirements. One major reason is the increasing complexity of solutions in various dimensions. Above all, the amount of data is growing even as they become increasingly heterogeneous.

For example, companies today focus increasingly on the use of new technologies such as RFID and Web 2.0. Herein lies potential for analysis, so that business decisions can be made sound and faster. This results in exponentially increasing amounts of data, but to be put in more and faster update cycles are available.
