Through advances in computer technology the newsletter has evolved from type written, hastily reproduced publications to a sophisticated medium on par with newspapers and magazines. Studies have shown that newsletters get read. In a recent survey of 200 businesses who had received a newsletter, 68% remembered reading it, and/or specific parts.

A newsletter is also able to cover several topics of interest thereby increasing the chance of discovering the readers hot button. Feature stories about present customers are eagerly absorbed and serve as inspiration for new ones. Quite often a newsletter.

Although the newsletter is the focal point of a sales system, other components are needed. These are a data base and the phone follow-up. Phoning for feedback can bring some amazing results.

Depending on the quality of your newsletter and mailing list, five to fifteen per cent of follow-up calls can result in additional sales. With TV and newspaper ads flooding the consumer, a business can only profit by having a newsletter to get its message out wether it is on printed, or web pages.
